Gregg Alexander, DO, Chief Marketing Officer, Health Nuts Media
As CMO for Health Nuts Media, Gregg Alexander oversees medical content and coordinates medical review teams. An actively practicing pediatrician at Madison Pediatrics in London, OH, Gregg has long promoted the use of technologies for advancing healthcare.
He is the former director of the Pediatric Office of Today! for the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and currently serves on the AAP’s council on clinical information technology executive committee, as well as the project advisory committee for the Child Health Informatics Center. An original member of the Ohio Health Information Partnership’s regional extension center committee, he was elected to its primary board of directors in February 2011.
Kris Baird, President/CEO, Baird Group
Kris Baird is an author, speaker, trainer, and patient experience strategist. She is also CEO and founder of Baird Group, a consulting firm she launched in 1991 that provides patient experience improvement strategies to hundreds of healthcare organizations internationally. A 35-year veteran nurse and hospital executive, Kris utilizes her vast experience to communicate as someone who’s “been there, done that.”
A highly sought-after consultant, she works with individuals and groups from the front line, medical staff and C-suite, guiding them through culture changes with measurable results in patient satisfaction and employee engagement. In 2009, Kris was appointed by the Secretary of Health to serve as an adviser for the National Health Service Corps. She earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Master of Health Administration from Cardinal Stritch University.
Thomas Carrigan, MD, MHSA, Cardiac Electrophysiologist, Saint Elizabeth Physicians
Thomas Carrigan is a cardiac electrophysiologist at Saint Elizabeth Physicians in Edgewood, KY. He has served as a clinical lecturer on cardiovascular medicine at the University of Michigan, co-director of the atrial fibrillation ablation program, and on the board of directors for the My Heart Your Heart project. His work with My Heart Your Heart includes medical missions to Ghana implanting pacemakers for indigent patients in underserved regions.
A frequent lecturer on cardiovascular and cardiac care topics, Thomas is also an extensively published author. His board certifications include Internal Medicine (ABIM), American Society of Echocardiography, Cardiovascular Medicine (ABIM) and Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology (ABIM).
Rick Evans, Senior Vice President and Chief Experience Officer, New York-Presbyterian Hospital
Rick Evans is the senior vice president and chief experience officer at New York-Presbyterian Hospital, where he leads the organization’s effort to improve the patient experience. He is also responsible for the organization’s referral management office, the physician leadership program, and the visitor education program. Previously, Rick was vice president of support services and patient centered care, during which he oversaw support services functions, including housekeeping, food service, patient escort and laundry departments, and where he led the organization’s successful strategy to improve the patient experience, called “We Put Patients First.”
Rick Evans holds a master’s degree in theology from Christ the King Seminary in East Aurora, NY, and a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from Wadhams Hall Seminary College in Ogdensburg, NY.
Tammy Kastre, MD, Chief Medical Officer, pCare
Tammy Kastre is chief medical officer of pCare, where she defines the overall clinical vision of the company and utilizes her expertise in helping hospital partners leverage their EHR systems to drive deeper patient engagement and maximize workflow efficiencies.
Tammy has extensive experience with interactive patient care and population health management solutions. She is board certified with the American Board of Emergency Medicine and a fellow of the College of Emergency Medicine. Tammy received her Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Arizona, School of Medicine.
Tim Jones, Chief Executive Officer, Health Nuts Media
An Emmy award-winning producer with over 20 years of experience, Tim Jones is CEO of Health Nuts Media. Tim has overseen numerous health literacy projects for companies and organizations, such as Starlight Children’s Foundation, The American Academy of Ophthalmology, University of Texas Medical Branch, The American Association of Orthopedic Surgeons, The University of Southern California, The Walt Disney Company and many more. A graduate of Pepperdine’s MBA program, Jones is co-author of the top-selling book Foundation Flash Cartoon Animation.
Gregg Malkary, Founder and Managing Director, Spyglass Consulting Group
Gregg Malkary has over 20 years’ experience in the high-technology industry, in which he helps Fortune 2000 companies utilize information technology for competitive advantage. Gregg has domain expertise in mobile computing and wireless and broadband technologies with direct experience in healthcare, government, manufacturing, communications, and entertainment markets. He is a frequent speaker at regional and national conferences focused on mobile computing, wireless technologies, and healthcare-related issues. Numerous industry publications have written about and quoted Gregg, including The Wall Street Journal, CIO, Business 2.0, MIT Technology Review, Network World and eWeek.
Thomas Pappas, National Sales Manager, TNP Holdings
Thomas Pappas is the national sales manager for TNP Holdings and is responsible for client and strategic development. Prior to this role, he was CEO of United Healthcare of PA, which he transformed into a formidable competitor. He also served as senior vice president, managing principal and global sales and marketing manager at Johnson & Higgins, a global professional services firm. Thomas is well regarded on a national level for his accomplishments, the breadth of which have earned him numerous honors, including the recent dedication of the Thomas N. Pappas Business Center at the Union League of Philadelphia. He is a graduate of La Salle University and the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
Terri Ann Parnell, DNP, RN, MA, FAAN, Chief Nursing Officer, TVR Communications, Principal & Founder, Health Literacy Partners
Terri Ann Parnell is chief nursing officer of pCare, as well as a nationally recognized health literacy expert and an award-winning author. She is principal and founder of Health Literacy Partners LLC, which provides a tapestry of solutions that promote health equity by enhancing person-centered care, effective communication, and the patient experience.
Terri is a member of the Roundtable on Health Literacy of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine and has served as a committee member on the American Nurses Association care coordination quality measures panel. She is a fellow in the American Academy of Nursing and the New York Academy of Medicine, and was selected for the 2016/17 New York Academy of Medicine fellow ambassadors program. In 2015, her second book, Health Literacy in Nursing: Providing Person-Centered Care, received an American Journal of Nursing book of the year award in the nursing management and leadership category.
