Nose surgery
Nose surgery (technically called rhinoplasty) is surgery to
reshape the nose and is one of the most common of all plastic
surgery procedures. Rhinoplasty can reduce or increase the size
of your nose, change the shape of the tip or the bridge, narrow
the span of the nostrils, or change the angle between your nose
and your upper lip. |

Understanding
rhinoplasty
In Thailand ,the most poppular rhinoplasty is aimed to
increase the size or augmentation rhinoplasty that we
have a lot of experiences in using silicone implants.
Apart from silicone implants ,we also use autogenous tissue
to augment the nose such as dermal fat graft, cartilage
,fat injection and acceptable filler. For aesthetic nose,alar
base,nostril and tip nose (alarplasty and tipplasty) are
probably reshaped in the same time. |

Augmentation Rhinoplasty
To increase the size and to reshape the asian nose ,silicone
implants are more popular than autogenous tissue. Our silicone
implant is medical grade approved by FDA. Proper carved silicone
implant can avoid the extrusion problem.

Surgical procedure
To hind the scar,incisions are done in inner side of alar
rims. Subcutaneous and subperiosteal pocket is created for
the silicone implant . The incision are closed with fine absorbable
suture.

Alarplasty
Alarplasty is the procedure to narrow the span of nostrils
and alar base. The surgical technique depends on the shape
of the nostrils and nasal proprotion to the whole face.

Tipplasty
To correct nasal tip’s projection and shape,tipplasty
should be done alone or combination with other procedure.
There are many techniques to do such as plication of alar
cartilages,augmentation with cartilage or injection with
acceptable filler. |

Reduction
of hump nose
Hump nose or cartilagenous projection in the dorsum of nose
is the usual condition found in caucasian nose but it’s uncommon
for asian nose. To reduce the hump,excess cartilagenous part
is cut or just only rasped .

Anesthesia
The operation is generally performed under a local anesthesia
but some patients are given sedation via an intravenous drip.

Duration
of operation
Rhinoplasty usually takes from one to two hours,depend on
the extend of surgery.

Before care
Inform us about any allergies ,any serious medical condition(s),and
all medications you are taking (both prescription and non –prescription).
Avoid aspirin and aspirin –containing medicines for two weeks
prior to surgery. |

After
care
After surgery-particularly during the first twenty-four
hours-your face will feel puffy, your nose may ache, and
you may have a dull headache. You can control any discomfort
with the pain medication prescribed by your surgeon. Plan
on staying in bed with your head elevated (except for
going to the bathroom) for the first day.
You'll notice that the swelling and bruising around your
eyes will increase at first, reaching a peak after two
or three days. Applying cold compresses will reduce this
swelling and make you feel a bit better. |

In any case, you'll feel
a lot better than you look. Most of the swelling and bruising
should disappear within two weeks or so. (Some subtle
swelling-unnoticeable to anyone but you and your surgeon-will
remain for several months.)
A little bleeding is common during the first few days
following surgery, and you may continue to feel some stuffiness
for several weeks. Your surgeon will probably ask you
not to blow your nose for a week or so, while the tissues
heal. |

Possible
risks and complications
When nose surgery is performed by a qualified plastic
surgeon, complications are infrequent and usually minor.
Nevertheless, there is always a possibility of complications,
including, bleeding, infection, deviation of nasal implant,asymmetry
of nostrils,prolong redness of nose or later on extrusion
of nasal implant. You can reduce your risks by closely
following your surgeon's instructions both before and
after surgery. |

Results
Rhinoplasty can make a remarkable difference in the appearance
of the face,especially in the flat nose ,hump nose and wide
nostrils. The nose appears more proportion to the face . The
degree of improvement varies from patient to patient. |
